Audio Typing Test

Listen to a simulated 999 call and log the key information in real time — practice modelled on the format of real call-handler assessments.

How it works

  • A 999 caller's voice plays through your browser's text-to-speech
  • Type what you hear — capture names, locations, incidents, hazards
  • You can keep typing after the call ends — click Next when you're done
  • Your log is scored against key information points
  • A model control room log is shown so you can see what to aim for
Note: Uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech. Works best in Chrome or Edge.

About the Audio Typing test

The audio typing test plays a simulated 999 call aloud and asks you to log the key information in real time — the caller's name, the location, the nature of the incident, and any hazards.

It measures listening accuracy and typing speed together, replicating the live demands of a control room where you type while the caller is still speaking. This free demo plays a sample call so you can practice capturing the details that matter.

This is a free sample of the audio typing assessment. Browse all six demo tests or get full access for £14.99 to practice the complete question banks with no limits.
